Prof Onwona-Agyeman Boateng is the Provost of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, University of Ghana. He earned a bachelor’s in physics from KNUST, Ghana, and a master’s degree in physics and a PhD in materials science and engineering at Saga University, Japan.
He was offered a postdoctoral position at Shizuoka National University in Japan from 2003 to 2005. He was then employed as a Scientist with the SPD Lab, Inc. in Japan from 2005 to 2007, where he worked on developing large‐area dye‐sensitized solar cells. In 2007, he was recruited to join a team of scientists and engineers (a collaboration between the Japanese Govt, FCC Company and Honda Motors) to develop porous‐structured catalyst paper for controlling exhaust gas emissions from small internal combustion engines and for hydrogen production using methane steam reformation. From 2009 to 2012, he worked as a Research Associate and Assistant Professor at Kyushu Institute of Technology and Kyushu University in Japan before joining the University of Ghana in 2013.
