Ouafae Karim is a member of the African Diaspora in Europe and an engineer specialising in remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS) and artificial intelligence. She is on a mission to democratise access to data and stimulate innovation in environmental management. With this in mind, she built up AfEOS in Morocco with the aim of creating geoservices platforms dedicated to various sectors, including agriculture, deforestation monitoring, river navigation assistance, flood zone monitoring, active fire detection and other areas of the environment.
AfEOS is a beacon of technological progress, harnessing the power of remote sensing, GIS and artificial intelligence to provide actionable information and support informed decision-making. They play a key role in projects led by the European Space Agency (ESA), contributing to infrastructure development and efficient use of space data and services.
