Helena Correia Mendonça is Principal Consultant at the Information, Communication & Technology practice at Vieira de Almeida and at the Aviation, Space & Defence industry of the firm.
Helena joined VdA in 2007 and has been involved in several national and international projects and transactions, both for the private and the public sector, on Space, Technology, Data and Cybersecurity, as well as on Fintech and Mobility. She has extensive expertise and experience in the Space sector, having advised on the drafting and set-up of space policies, laws and space agencies, on the national Space Surveillance and Tracking programme and on spaceports. She has also been directly involved on the legal assessment of projects for the European Space Agency (ESA) notably on cybersecurity and satcom, and on blockchain and satcom. She has also been involved in various private sector projects, including for satellite networks construction and launch, sale of satellite systems (including ground segment and data), lease capacity agreements and downstream services.
Helena is author or co-author of several papers, columns and articles published in national and international specialised publications, lectures at several universities and programmes, and she is a speaker in several events, including on Space, Technology, Space, Mobility and Fintech. She took a course in Space Law and Policy by the European Centre of Space Law (ECSL) and the European Space Agency (ESA) and a Strategic Space Law Program held by the Institute of Air and Space Law of McGill University.
