Dr Lasisi Salami Lawal is focused on Communications Technologies, Satellite Technologies, Communications Satellite Applications & Services, GNSS & SBAS Technologies, and Satellite Project Management and has hands-on experience on two communications satellites launched for Nigeria (NIGCOMSAT-1 and NIGCOMSAT-1R) as a project team leader.
Dr Lawal develops solutions to engineering problems using new or existing technologies through innovations, creativity and change, including technical accountability for complex systems with significant levels of risk. He has a patent to his credit and numerous paper publications in conference proceedings and journals on GNSS, SBAS, Satellite Communications & Technologies and integration of wireless systems (terrestrial and space-based) to connect the unconnected in unserved and underserved communities of Africa and promote digital inclusion and knowledge economy.
He presently works with NIGCOMSAT Ltd as Acting General Manager in the Directorate of Technical Services, Head of the Navigation Project Office (NPO) and Project Manager to facilitate the adoption of Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) technology in Africa’s aviation sector. He is also a visiting scholar at the University of Sussex, UK and the GNSS Center of Wuhan University, China, Federal University of Technology, Minna and Summit University, Kwara State..
Dr Lawal is a COREN Registered Engineer and a member of several professional bodies, including a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), UK Chartered Engineer (CEng), Senior and Live Member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), African Scientific Institute (FASI) to mention a few.
