Dr. Amaro João is the Flight Director at the Satellite Mission Control Center (MCC) in Luanda, Angola, under Angola’s National Space Office (GGPEN, in Portuguese). In MCC, he leads the operational crew in charge of In-Orbit operations and maintenance of the satellite ANGOSAT-2.
He has more than 10 years working for Angolan Space Program at GGPEN. He has completed various training programs in satellite payload and platform design, with ISS Reshtnev, RSC Energia, Airbus Defense, Space, Thales Alenia Space, and SES. He has received certification from the Russian Space Agency (ROSCOSMOS) for communications satellite operation.
He graduated from Ryazan University and completed his Ph.D. at Vladimir University, both in Russia. Dr. Amaro Joao’s doctoral research focused on “developing a model for the evaluation of the impact of hydrometeors in satellite communications.” Dr. Amaro Joao is also the author of many publications in the fields of telecommunications and voice signal processing.
He received the Medal of Merit and a respective certificate for his singular contribution to the creation of the satellite communication system of the Republic of Angola.
