Amal Layachi holds a diploma in Engineering, a Master and a diploma in Automatic and Signal Processing. She has over three decades of experience in the field of Earth Observation and Geographic Systems information. She coordinated and participated in several national and international projects on space technologies, including EU Support Programme, GARNET E, GEONET CAB, GEOCRADLE, LDAS MOROCCO, and GMES &Africa programmes.
A capacity building specialist, Ms Layachi heads the training and cooperation department at the CRT, Morocco, where she devises strategies for capacity development programmes in space technologies. In partnership with various regional and international space institutions, She has coordinated over 300 training activities and programmes in the EO sector for socioeconomic development.
In addition, Ms Layachi manages international cooperation activities for CRTS. She is also in charge of relations with universities and research institutions at the national and international levels to strengthen EO and geospatial intelligence research in Morocco. Ms Layachi regularly speaks on the operational use of satellite products for national socioeconomic development and capacity building in space technologies.
