Mr Mamadou Sarr attended the National University of Sofia, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Electronics and Automation and Telecom Transmission. In 1990, Mr Sarr started working with SONATEL International Network Section as a Support Engineer at Gandoul Satellite Earth Station. He was selected to participate in the first mission for reparation and repropulsion in space, the Reboost 603 mission, jointly organised by NASA AND INTELSAT.
He was nominated to head the Satellite Service Division in SONATEL in 1996. In this capacity, he was in charge of all satellite communications-related activities. He coordinated activities with INTELSAT, INMARSAT, RASCOM, SES and other satellite communication organisations, was in charge of GMPCS and mobile systems via satellites, got certification for satellite mobile service activation and participated in several conferences and studies on satellite systems in Senegal and beyond.
After the ITU audit recommendation to transform RASCOM and continue the mission, Mr Sarr was nominated as the Vice President of Engineering and Technology VP-IT in 1996 and Director-General to lead RASCOM. With a 28-year experience in Satellite Communication Systems, Mr Sarr continues to successfully lead RASCOM and attract new members and partners to ASECNA.
