Professor Kamel Besbes is a Professor of Electronics and Microelectronics, the Former Director General of the Centre for Research on Microelectronics and Nanotechnology, Sousse Technopole and the former Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Monastir, Tunisia.
He is the Founder of UNISEC Tunisia (University Space Engineering Consortium) and CubeSat space technology research programs (FACT: 2018-2023), Schools of Space Technology MICST 12 & 14, and SPACE STAR conference 2022. He has been an expert member of the Tunisian National Commission on Outer Space Affairs since 2014. Professor Besbes is a Senior Scientific Advisor of the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on European Programs on Digital, Industry and Space clusters.
He was the founder of the Microelectronics and Instrumentation Lab. He has supervised at least 25 PhD theses in physics and electrical engineering and published and presented over 300 scientific papers. Professor Besbes is an IEEE Senior Member, Chair of IEEE Nanotechnology and Vice-chair of IEEE GRSS of Tunisia chapters.
