Dr Jean-Denis Gabikini has over 15 years of proven history of delivering superior results, ensuring excellence on projects and advocating for issues related to economics and management, especially in economic development and African continental integration. He is a recognized expert on economic policy research, analysis and publications, regional integration, promotion of the private sector, trade, investment and resource mobilisation.
Dr Gabikini has a successful record of accomplishment in regional and multilateral cooperation and negotiations, as well as strategic planning, policy analysis, stakeholder mobilisation, and programme implementation. Dr Jean-Denis is the Head of Economic Development, Integration and Trade of the African Union Commission after being the Acting Director of the Economic Affairs Department. Prior to his current position, Dr Jean-Denis worked as the Advisor in the Cabinet for about a decade.
He was instrumental in implementing the African Integration Agenda as encapsulated in the Abuja Treat and Agenda 2063 and formulating, organising and managing key policies and programmes of economic analysis aimed at enhancing continental and regional integration in line with the AU Agenda 2063, amongst others. He further provided advisory services to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat in their relations with RECs and Member States on issues of economic integration.
Dr Gabikini received his PhD in International Business Administration from SMC University, Switzerland. In addition, he has an MBA in International Business Administration from Laval University, Canada, an M.Sc. in International Economics from the University of Kyiv, Ukraine, and a B.A. in Economics from Brazzaville Technical School, Congo.
