Mr BAKIENON LOUIS is the Director of Operations of ASECNA; the Agency for Air Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar, an International air navigation service provider (ANSP) in AFI region belonging to 18 States and covering 16.1 million-square kilometre area.
Mr BAKIENON has been working for this ANSP since 1989 and holds the position of Operations Director of ASECNA since 2017.
Before his appointment as Director of Operations, Mr BAKIENON held successively the positions of:
- Manager of Ouagadougou Airport in Burkina Faso for ten years
- Head of ATM services at ASECNA Headquarters in Dakar for eleven years
- Country Representative of ASECNA in Burkina Faso and Congo Brazzaville during nine years;
Mr BAKIENON is also an instructor in human factors and an expert in SAR (Search and rescue) AIG (accident and incident investigation) and GNSS. He is the Director of the SBAS programme which is being implemented within ASECNA States.
He was also the chief of ASECNA’s Team during Independence Day in Juba (South Sudan) in 2011 when the airspace of this new State was no longer managed by Khartoum. He received from ICAO Montreal and DG CAA of Khartoum the power to qualify ATCO to manage this airspace.
