Adiatou Fatty is the Communications Lead of GMES & Africa at the Department of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of the African Union Commission. He previously managed communications for the Pan African University under the same department.
Before joining the African Union Commission, Adiatou was Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Gambia’s National Television where he had a career in broadcast journalism and media management. At the same time, he was a trainer in journalism, media and communications, and also taught English and History at a local institute.
Adiatou holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham; a Postgraduate Degree in Public Law from the University of London; a Master’s Degree in International Law from the University of London; a graduate Diploma in English from the College of Media and Publishing in the UK; and professional certification in Public Relations from the University of South Africa. He is a licensed English Language Editor, and is admitted into the Chartered Institute of Public Relations of the UK.
Adiatou has interdisciplinary expertise in international development, law, diplomacy, public policy and global communications. He is proficient in speech, creative and policy writing, and was one of the drafters of Africa’s contributory paper on the Sustainable Development Goals.
